On Location (Part 2)

The series revisits iconic movie locations.

Most of the places have changed considerably since the films were made, and some have now completely disappeared.

The images freeze these spaces in time, depicting them as they are in real life, away from the movie set.

Not wanting to re-create a movie still, the images nonetheless have a carefully captured cinematic quality. Often, the light source becomes part of the image, hinting at the technical exercise of image making as well as being part of the narrative.

The images have been shot across the United States and the United Kingdom, as well as major cities such as Vienna, Venice and Tokyo.

The Graduate, La Verne, CA

The Third Man, Vienna, Austria

Withnail and I, Shap, United Kingdom

The Big Lebowski, Los Angeles

Million Dollar Baby, Los Angeles

Lost in Translation, Tokyo, Japan

Little Miss Sunshine, Newhall, CA

Don’t Look Now, Venice, Italy

The French Connection, Brooklyn, NY
